Every year on September 21, communities around the globe mark World Alzheimer's Day to raise global awareness about the most common form of dementia. Alzheimer's is a progressive brain disorder that gradually affects memory, clear thinking and daily activities. It is important to realize that its condition is not a normal part of aging, but a health issue that impacts over 55 million people worldwide and touches the lives of countless families & caregivers.

The global movement uses the forget-me-not flower as its primary symbol to remind everyone of the importance of dignity and memory. A central goal of World Alzheimer's Day is promoting early detection, as catching symptoms early helps families access vital support services, plan for future and start medical treatments much sooner.

Students can easily support this cause by wearing purple on September 21 to stand in solidarity with those affected. Practicing patience and kindness towards older adults and family caregivers, while sharing accurate facts to challenge common misconceptions helps build a more supportive & compassionate school community where no family feels alone. Thus it is our duty to spread awareness about Alzheimer's Day.
